{"id":2874,"date":"2019-06-24T05:00:29","date_gmt":"2019-06-23T19:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.driverknowledgetests.com\/resources\/?p=2874"},"modified":"2019-03-23T15:46:23","modified_gmt":"2019-03-23T04:46:23","slug":"maximum-vehicle-widths-lengths-and-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.driverknowledgetests.com\/resources\/maximum-vehicle-widths-lengths-and-heights\/","title":{"rendered":"Maximum vehicle widths, lengths and heights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two categories of vehicle: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General access vehicles<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restricted access vehicles<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><b>General access vehicles<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General access vehicles are all vehicles that do not exceed the following dimensions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum vehicle width is 2.5 metres<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum vehicle height is 4.3 metres<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum vehicle length is 12.5 metres if it is a single (rigid) motor vehicle<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum vehicle length is 19 metres if it is a combination motor vehicle<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These vehicles can operate on any road except where there&#8217;s a restriction that is notified by a sign, e.g. a low bridge. They include most cars, vans, motorhomes and light trucks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum width is based on the bodyshell and doesn&#8217;t include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rear vision mirrors, signalling devices and side-mounted lamps and reflectors<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anti-skid devices mounted on wheels, central tyre inflation systems, tyre pressure gauges<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">permanently fixed webbing-assembly-type devices, such as curtain-side devices, provided that the maximum distance measured across the body including any part of the devices does not exceed 2.55 metres.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum height doesn&#8217;t include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vehicles built to carry cattle, horses, pigs or sheep on two decks &#8211; 4.6 metres<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vehicles built with at least 2 decks for carrying vehicles &#8211;
